In simple terms, the particulate filter is in filter placed in the exhaust system to trap soot particles so that they cannot enter the outside air. Over time, the filter fills up and the car must be able to perform self-cleaning also called regeneration.
If the particulate filter is found to be clogged the car is no longer able to clean the particulate filter itself or there is such saturation of the particulate filter that the regeneration process cannot keep up.
Or
A particulate filter is a self-cleaning component and should keep itself clean.
Does the soot filter light mean it is clogged? Running the particulate filter light does not directly mean that the particulate filter is clogged. In normal use of the car, this light can also mean that the cleaning process has been initiated and if that is the case, it is best to continue driving for about 20 minutes at a speed of about 100 km/h to complete the process. If the light goes out after this period of time, we can conclude that the regeneration process has concluded properly. If the light stays on, we can determine that a malfunction is present in the particulate filter system. Should the light recur with regularity, it could be that the particulate filter is clogging too quickly. In either case, you should contact a specialist.

DPF Clean is a process we perform with the particulate filter mounted to the car with chemicals to clear the clog. This procedure can be performed only AFTER finding the problem of clogging and repairing it otherwise the particulate filter will clog again in a short period of time. Imagine the kitchen floor is flooded with water and then you start mopping but have not yet turned off the faucet that caused the sink to overflow. We have been able to clean more than 10,000 particulate filters within our network without having to replace the costly particulate filter.
Do I need to add cleaners to my fuel to clean the particulate filter?
Additives can prevent clogging but can also cause serious damage to the particulate filter if not applied properly.
Most additives are for prevention of possible blockages but can cause serious problems on systems with failures.
